2018 HBC Finger Lakes Trip

We certainly had outstanding weather for the 11th annual HBC Finger Lakes trip. Mostly sunny skies ,pleasant temperatures, no rain and very light winds provided ideal biking conditions.  There were 109 participants this year. 

I want to thank all the people who helped make this year's trip a success. I thank Cindy Hoehn for her meticulous cue sheets and maps and for her help with checking people in and out.  Joan Short and Tim Hoehn get kudos for that, too. 

I am grateful to all the people who helped with the socials, too. Doug and Jean Silvis, Peggy Bree, Ken and Gail Frohnert, Sue and Darrel Casto, Mike Loomis, and all the helpers from the Blennerhasset Bike Club from West Virginia.  And thanks to whoever it was that was adding extra goodies to the social offerings, like olives, parmesan crisps, brownies, cookies and more. Yum!

And I am especially grateful to the many people who offered to lead rides.  I think there were great choices for everyone who came on the trip. 

Plans for 2019

Next year's trip will be a little later due to changes in the college schedule, so mark June 13-16, 2019 on your calendar. 

As this trip grows in numbers and in options, I have come to realize that more help is needed to put this event on.  Therefore, I am forming a committee and am looking for volunteers to fill the following positions:

Committee Chair: Responsible for logistics, coordinating with the College, the caterer, the restaurants, etc. to lay the groundwork for the trip.  I am willing to share the responsibility with another person for next year's trip, which will be my last.

Socials Coordinator - This person (or group of people) would be responsible for planning the evening socials, purchasing all supplies, and scheduling the volunteers to work each evening.  This is the perfect job for our "out of town" members since almost all the work is done on site.  

Registrar - This person (or group) would record all registrations and take care of on-site check-in and check-out. Volunteers can be recruited to assist on-site as needed. 

Routes Manager: Cindy Hoehn has offered to assist with routes again for 2019. Thank you so much, Cindy.

Please let me know if you are willing to fill one of these positions or need more information. Without more assistance, this popular trip will not be offered after 2019.
