Four HBC team members (Cindy Gorski, Terry Neiles, Chris Seier and Bonnie Iorfido) participated in the American Cancer Society’s PA HOPE Ride June 27-28th. The 140 mile journey began at the Hershey Hope Lodge on Saturday and finished on Sunday at PA’s second lodge in Cheltenham, a suburb of Philadelphia. The route was rolling to hilly through scenic countryside to Kutztown University for an overnight stay and a nice dinner. On Sunday the route boasted a big climb at mile 5 after which we were back to the rolling, hilly terrain until it flattened out for the last 30 miles. There were 86 riders and as of Saturday the ride raised $72,207.00, with the HBC team contributing $6,064.00. Terry Neiles placed 2nd in individual fundraising with $4,330.00. Monies raised help support our American Cancer Society's Hope Lodges and other critical programs in the fight against cancer. Our two PA Hope Lodges alone provide 15,500 free nights annually for patients traveling to receive cancer treatments. The ride was well organized with good support and I hope more HBC members will join the team next year for this worthwhile cause. Mark your calendar for June 27 & 28, 2015.
