Start Location:      Briarcrest

Climb:                   930 ft.

Weather At Start:  86 degrees, sunny, and 9 MPH NW wind

We left Briarcrest at 6 pm and biked to the Susquehanna River for our break.  On our way, we traveled on Deodate Road at the Turnpike underpass where a biker had a nasty fall on Monday.  The fall was caused by two long approximately 2.5” wide by 2” deep road cuts parallel to the travel path.  The biker’s wheels were trapped by the road cuts causing a fall on the steep downhill.  The biker contacted PENNDOT who said the cuts should not have been left open overnight and they would be immediately closed.  Well, they were still open on this ride 3 days later.  Prior to our ride, the C+ ride coordinator was notified to caution all of his leaders regarding this cut.

After our break, we headed back to Briarcrest via Swatara Creek Road.

Thanks to Mike Kirkham for doing a great job sweeping.
