On a beautiful day of full sunshine we enjoyed the Lehigh Gorge trail from Jim Thorpe to Rockport and back. We met for breakfast at the Hershey Road Family Restaurant at 8 am and then carpooled to our starting point at the train station parking lot in Jim Thorpe.  The town was crowded with fall tourists.  We had to wait for the tourist train at the crossing to visit the the train station rest rooms before the ride.  There were hundreds on the train and in downtown Jim Thorpe.   The group enjoyed a number of vistas during the ride, including the rock overlook, Luke's falls and Buttermilk falls, and a raging stream at Rockport.  The fall river views were impressive.  After the ride all of us went for libations and a wonderful dinner at the Stone Row Pub and Eatery in Jim Thorpe.  This was a full day event as it was dark when we returned to the Harrisburg area.  All enjoyed the ride and felt that the long day was worthwhile.
