Other Special Rides Ride. 51miles @ 11.8 mph

Marilyn Chastek (L), Dick Norford, Susan Tussey, Scott Silverstine, Howard Ross, Howard Davison, Lou Searles, Wendy Palmer, Ann Ouyang, Phyllis Zitzer (S).

It was a gorgeous day to to test out the Big Spring Meander route for the Century on Volunteer Day.  We stayed together until we met up with Terry Drachbar's C+ ride at the trailhead in Newville, where Lou and both Howards decided switch groups.  We all enjoyed the beautiful routes and mountain scenery. We passed several Amish buggies along the way and saw a lot of clothes out drying on the line. Cows and horses found us interesting but the chickens just ignored us. There were uphills, downhills, and a lot of flat riding, making for a great day on the bike. This was Scott's first 50 mile ride, and he did great, with some helpful advice from Coach Zitzer.

Thanks to Terry Drachbar and his crew for creating and making such a wonderful route.  We got back in time to enjoy the lunch provided for all the people who signed up to volunteer on Century Day, Sept. 17.
