Mech HS C Ride. 29.6miles @ 12.6 mph
Marilyn Chastek (L), Bill and Patty Baughman, Cindi Greenawalt, Bob McKee
The morning started off foggy after a night of rain, so we weren't sure what to expect by ride time. As it turns out, the roads were surprisingly dry and the blue sky popped out about 9:30 a.m. We took the long way to Boiling Springs, catching some hills on Gutshall and Red Tank Roads before taking a break at Caffe 101. The corn was so high, we weren't sure if we'd get any views at all from the top of Gutshall Rd. but there was a small break that gave us a nice look at the valley below. We even took a short side tour to see what improvements have been done to Allenberry Resort and saw that a lot of work has been done to improve the area. Bob is getting ready to do the Covered Bridge Metric Century next week and Bill and Patty were trying to get some miles in before they start traveling. We even go to chat with one of the men working on the pipeline off Eppley Rd. and he was amazed at the the wildlife they've been seeing in that location; hawks, deer, turkeys, groundhogs, etc. Guess they don't see those critters in Baltimore, his hometown.
