Commuter Routes

HBC encourages all cyclists to use their bikes for multiple purposes, including commuting to work.  Bike commuting can be a pleasurable experience and can save money, and in the case of short distances, it can even save time. It is a healthy choice for riders as well as the environment.  Experienced bike commuters have shared their routes with HBC and they are posted for your use. Please be aware that HBC has not verified the routes nor can HBC guarantee safety for those using the routes.  However, they are tested routes that have worked well for the people using them. HBC recommends scouting your chosen route prior to riding it and/or testing it out by bike when traffic is light.  Happy travelling!

Here are some other good resources available to bike commuters:
Commuter Services of Pennsylvania: Help is available to all Pennsylvania commuters, whether they are on foot, bike or carpooling. http://www.pacommuterservices.com/bike.html
Capital Area Transit:  Is your commute too long to do by bike? Link up with Capital Area Transit. You can ride to one of their Park & Ride Locations or use the bike racks that most of the buses now have available. http://www.cattransit.com
Capital Area Greenbelt: The Greenbelt is a 20 mile necklace of roads and off-road trails that circles Harrisburg.  Commuters can utilize sections of the Greenbelt to bypass busy roads, especially in the downtown Harrisburg area.  http://www.caga.org
