This year the Partnership for Better Health in Carlisle is again holding a “Match Madness” month to help small non-profits like the Cumberland Valley Rail Trail Council (CVRTC) get donations. As in last year’s program, the Partnership has put up a $50,000 stretch fund to match donations. I’m asking for your help again this year.

As you know, the CVRTC has a number of major construction projects underway. On the western end of the trail we’re completing a bridge and a new mile of trail into central Shippensburg. In Newville we’re installing a bridge over Big Spring Road and building an underpass beneath Rt. 233, taking the trail a mile further east and past two major trail obstructions. At the end of December, we completed a mile of new trail at Allen Road on the western edge of Carlisle.

You can make your tax deductible donation either by check to Partnership for Better Health or through PayPal at the Partnership for Better Health web page. All donations must go through Partnership for Better Health to be eligible for matching funds. All funds you donate to CVRTC will come through to us with a significant match – see their web page for instructions or use the address below to mail a check. Just make sure the check is made out to Partnership for Better Health and you put CVRTC on the memo line of the check or follow the PayPal instructions on the web page. We’re an all-volunteer, 501 c3 non-profit, so your donation is key to our success. With over 40,000 people using the trail per year, we have a significant impact on the health and happiness of residents in the local area. We’re also a tourist destination which helps local businesses. The finest views in the valley are from the rail trail, so get out there and enjoy the scenery…and…please donate to help us improve the trail.
